What we do

Bill 7 was passed as the result of gays and lesbians fighting the discrimination that exists against us all. We recognized that although the queer community is a diverse one, together we face a common oppression. The Bill 7 Award is named in honour of this spirit of our unity.

Queer students often face discrimination in the form of economic problems. These needs are not adequately met by the present financial aid system.

We feel that the responsibility for furthering education should be taken up by our community. Increasing the numbers of queers in all aspects of our society will create spokespersons to articulate our needs.

The Bill 7 Award Trust Fund is formed to financially assist gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, transsexual, queer and 2-spirited post-secondary students who are active in the queer community.
